Law and order situation under control in Punjab: Arvind Kejriwal

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday lauded the Punjab government for its crackdown on Khalistan supporter Amritpal Singh as he expressed confidence in the Bhagwant Mann-led government and said the AAP government was ready to take any steps to maintain law and order in the state. 

Appreciating Bhagwant Mann's approach to the case, Kejriwal said, “The Mann government proceeded with relative calm to bring peace after the Amritpal dispute created a ruckus in the state. I want to make it clear, we have no setup with anyone. “Gangsters and criminals will not go unpunished in Punjab. Mann's government has been doing this for the past year. They have caught many drug mafias and similarly this situation will also be dealt with,” the Delhi Chief Minister said.

Reiterating that the situation is under control, Kejriwal said, “The law and order situation is under control in Punjab.

Talking about the massive operation launched by the Punjab Police to nab a notorious Khalistan sympathizer, he said, “Investigations in the last few days have set an example that the AAP government is ready to take any step to maintain the law and order situation. peace and tranquility in the state."

The police launched a major crackdown on Singh and members of his group 'Waris Punjab De' on Saturday. However, the preacher eluded the police and escaped their dragnet when his cavalcade was intercepted in Jalandhar district. In his first reaction to the police action, Mann said he had received several phone calls from people praising his government. “People tell me you did a good job.

There should be peace and harmony in Punjab. We will support you in this matter," Mann said in a video message.
